Something About Spring

Something about warm, sunny days, flowers blooming, and baby animals make me amazed at the majesty of my God. Spring is a time of renewal and rebirth. I just love this time of year. I think it helps me see how much my God really cares about me. I am in awe of His love today.

Hula-Hooping and Ski Jumping

Brian and I decided to buy Wii Fit last Friday while perusing the shelves at Wal-Mart. We went straight home and started setting up our profiles and playing/exercising.

It is so amazing to me how far we have come in the "gaming" world. The Wii Fit board can measure your weight and then has you do a balance test to make sure your center of balance is correct. Once you have done your measurements, it is off to play! There is Yoga, strength training, aerobic, and balance games.

We decided to start with the balance games. I guess I am balance-challenged because I had a hard time with all of them, with the exception of the Ski jumping game. I was killing Brian at ski jumping (until he practiced all night while I slept). But I plan on practicing while he is at work today!!!

We then decided to try the aerobics games. The first one is Hula-hooping. Do you know how long it has been since I hula-hooped...at least 18 years! Let me tell you, if you want a good ab and leg workout, you should Hula-hoop! I feel sore in muscles I have not felt in YEARS! Plus, it is very entertaining to watch others swing their hips as fast as they can. Brian was so horribly funny that I laughed so hard I cried.

I totally recommend this game! It is going to be a great weight-loss tool for me, plus a fun family activity!

South Beach Diet

I decided to start the South Beach diet this week. I have been doing some research on diets and this seemed like the most reasonable diet out there.

The biggest obstacle to this diet is the first 2 week of NO CARBS! I love carbs and this will be quite a stretch for me....especially since I can't even have fruit. Once you get past the first 2 weeks, you can eat some carbs in moderation. I will be able to have whole grains a few times a week and fruit almost daily. The big change will be learning to live without potatoes. The positive side is I can eat until full as long as I am eating the right kinds of foods.

In the first 2 weeks, I should see a drop of 10-15 pounds and then gradual weight loss (1-2 pounds per week) after that.

I think with this diet and my exercise, I should be good to go...IF I can make it past the NO CARB phase!

Where is the sun???

I am so frustrated about this Idaho weather! It was so warm last week (up into the upper 60's!). I was able to go running and take the kids to the park. I even cleaned my back yard up!

Tobyn loves to be outside. Zoe and him played in the backyard for hours those few sunny days! When he came back in he told me, "Gee, Mommy, I sure did miss the sun!"
Over the weekend, the weather decided to turn cold AGAIN! The wind was blowing so hard on Sunday, it knocked our power out for 3 hours. Yesterday and today, it is still blowing and just COLD outside. Tobyn and Zoe don't understand why they can't play outside when they just were last week.

I really hope the sun comes back to Idaho....I am so tired of the dreary weather!

Renewed Motivation

I got my Tony Little(I know this guy is a freak, but the machine is great!) Gazelle about 3 months ago now. When I was using 3-4 times a week, I lost 2 inches off my waist in about 3 weeks. Now if that wasn't motivation enough to keep it up, I don't what is...but I did lose motivation for some odd reason.
So I am back on the weight loss train. I HAVE to get this weight off, before 10 years fly by and I wonder why I have not lost the weight yet. My short term goal is to lose 20 pounds by June 1st. I think that is very feasible and not an outrageous plan (and it is just in time for a 3 pay period month and summer clothes shopping!).

So why am I telling you this? I thought maybe if I got this in writing....then I can look back and keep motivated. But I also want y'all to ask me how my weight-loss is coming. If I have friends standing behind me, then I know I can do this!

I better get going and not waste all my time online today. I have some exercising to do!

What a great weekend...

I actually get a three day weekend this week, which NEVER happens! I am enjoying every waking moment.

Yesterday, we took the kids to The Tale of Despereaux at the theatre. Because this week is Spring Break, the theatre had $1.50 matinees all week. It cost us all of $3.50 to take the kids to the movie. They both really enjoyed the movie and the special Mommy and Daddy time.

Last night at midnight, Twilight was released on DVD. My dear hubby and his brother made the trip to Walmart to buy it. God bless them! They said it was packed with teenagers like the day after Thanksgiving....all for the release on one DVD....CRAZY! But they came home successful with DVD in hand. We plan to watch it sometime tonight. I am so excited!

Today I have my sister-in-law's baby shower to attend. I am going a couple hours early to help decorate and I am in charge in taking pictures at the shower. Baby Lucas is her first child, so this will be an exciting day for her! I am glad I get to be a part of it.

Tonight the kids are staying the night with Nana and Papa, which they are totally thrilled about. My brother-in-law is treating Brian and I to dinner and then we are coming home to enjoy Twilight!

What a busy but awesome weekend filled with family and fun! I love weekends like this!

Some interesting news

My dad has a rental home that he was going to sell to a family that is new to the area. They decided that it would be too small for their needs and wanted something a little bigger. He told them that we might possibly want to sell our house. Of course, we do want to sell our house, but we did not have it on the market and really weren't considering it for another 9 -12 months.

So, this family will be coming to look at our house this week and if they like it, I may be packing up my house in the next couple weeks.

Isn't amazing how God's timing is sooooo much different than ours? What a blessing it would be to have my house sold without any realtor's fees, advertisement fees, and really any hard work on our part! Please be praying on this with us!
